Mason and Porter are 8 months old today!

Mason and Porter are 8 months old today and what a crazy ride it has been! The last month or so has been much better since they started sleeping through the night, although the last week they have both been really sick. We almost had to take Porter to the ER, but with a blessing and A LOT of patience we were lucky enough not to have to. By patience I mean that I had to feed my starving children 1/8-1/4 oz. of pedialyte every 10-15 min. assuming they kept that down. All the while they are screaming because they are hungry and just want to eat, but I couldn't give them formula or too much pedialyte or they would throw it up. The only nice part about them being sick was they wanted to sleep all the time. Although their sleeping habits or should I say lack of sleeping habits during the day have returned let me make it clear that I am happy they are finally starting to feel better!

As far as developmentally, both boys are pretty much falling right into track with their 61/2 months adjusted age. They both will sit on their own for a few seconds before they do the funny slow-motion baby topple and they both love to grab anything within reach and explore it with their mouths and hands. They are still wearing size 0-3 months clothing except on the rare day that I feel like a good laugh and don't mind putting their pants back on all day long, then I will put them in some of their 3-6 month clothes. They definitely don't look like they are 8 months old, but they look big and healthy to us! They both love to smile and laugh at their big brother who absolutely adores them!

Mason is our inquisitive chunky-monkey. And yes I am proud to announce that I finally have a somewhat chunky baby! I am almost positive that he is capable of staring a hole right through you. He loves to just sit and take everything in and if you are a stranger and he gives you a smile then you are okay in his world. He doesn't hand out smiles too freely, but when he finally flashes one it is worth the wait. His laugh is hysterical. He stifles it, almost as if he is at church and someone is saying the prayer and he knows he shouldn't be laughing, it is adorable! He doesn't care to much for tummy time and his preferred method of transportation is scooting around on his back. We all just love him to pieces and are so glad he is in our family!

Porter is mister happy-go-lucky. He would smile at a pebble on the ground. If you don't get a smile from him then you are not okay in his world. He is super ticklish which sets off a laugh that is highly contagious! His new obsession is our dog Jinjer. He follows her every where with his eyes and if he could I am sure he would follow her where ever she went. Unlike Mason he loves his tummy and has for a long time. He has been rolling over since he was 2 months old. His preferred method of transportation is rolling, although he does this cute little tummy dance which I'm guessing is a precursor to crawling. We love Porter and are so happy that he is part of our family too!

I remember after they were born saying every now and then how much easier everything would be if there was just one of them. Not that I didn't want both, that is not what I mean, but looking back to when we had Tanner everything just seemed so much easier, and I remember thinking is I just had one life would be a breeze! For some reason having 2 doesn't feel like 2, it feels like 5. I don't know, it sounds weird, but somehow having 2 feels like more than just double the work. Anyway I am rambling and I'm sure none of that makes any sense, but my point is that I really don't know what I would do if both of them weren't in my life. I love them both so much and they both bring so much joy to our family that I just can't imagine life without either of them. As challenging as it has been I wouldn't want it any other way and I would do it all again to have these two precious, beautiful boys in our home. Mason and Porter you made the wait and all the heartache well worth it! We love you!!! Happy 8 months!
